I thought I might add to this that making this world a better place isn't so much about action, it's more about attitude. If you truly want to make a difference, send a little love out into the universe. Let your little sister borrow that top she's been wanting. Be kind to your brother when he spills on that project you have been working for weeks on. When your at McDonald's and you see someones short 50 cents, hand them a dollar. Do the dishes without your mom asking, and without expectations for a reward. THAT is how you change the world.
How important is Social Activism?
Very important! There are over 2300 verses of Scripture that command us to take care of the poor, feed the hungry & clothe the naked!

Recycle
Make recycling bins at home, at schools, and for your parent's office. There are also plenty of products made from recycled products [everything from shopping bags to toothbrushes!].
Conserve
Seems childish I know, but it's true! Turn the water off while you brush your teeth, turn the lights of when you leave a room, turn off your tv before you go to sleep. Unplug electronics when not in use! Toasters, phone chargers, lamps, radios, computers.
Volunteer
Volunteer at a hospital, animal shelter or at an after school program.
Raise awareness
Make posters, write articles, or bring it up in conversations. Find a cause that's important to you, and share it with everyone. A lot of people would love to help out, but don't know how! Raise awareness and let people know ways they can get involved too.
